Download good frens from the App Store and tap Sign Up. You'll create an account using your email address or continue with Apple or Google. From there, you'll set up your profile and add your dog — this takes about two minutes.

After creating your account, you'll be prompted to add your first dog. Tap Add Dog, upload a photo, and fill in your dog's name, breed, age, size, and a short bio. You can always edit this later from your profile.

If you have more than one dog, you can add multiple dogs to your profile.

good frens shows you other dogs and their owners nearby. Browse the Discover screen to find dogs near you — you can filter by size, energy level, neighborhood, or breed. When you find a good match, send a playdate request with a type of activity and suggested time. If they accept, you'll be connected to plan the details.

good frens is available anywhere in the United States. The Discover feed uses your location to show nearby dogs — the larger the city, the more dogs you'll find nearby. We're growing fast, so if your area is quieter right now, check back soon.

Yes — good frens is free to download and use. We'll let you know if any premium features are added in the future, but the core experience of finding and scheduling dog playdates will always be free.

Tap on any dog profile in the Discover screen, then tap Request Playdate. Choose the type of activity (off-leash play, coffee walk, trail walk, etc.), add a suggested time and any notes, and send. The other owner will receive a notification and can accept, decline, or suggest a different time.

Open your Requests tab to see incoming playdate requests. Tap Accept to confirm, or Decline to pass. If you'd like to suggest a different time or activity, you can message the other owner directly before accepting.

Go to your Upcoming playdates, tap the playdate you need to cancel, and select Cancel Playdate. The other owner will be notified. We know things come up — please try to give as much notice as possible so the other person can make other plans.

good frens offers a range of playdate types so you can find something that works for both dogs: off-leash play, coffee walk, backyard play, park walk, home hangout, dog-friendly brewery, trail walk, swim day, bike & run, farmers market, dog-friendly patio, morning run, dog-friendly café, sniff walk, sunset walk, yappy hour, and fetch & chill.

Yes — tap the filter icon on the Discover screen and use the breed search field. Start typing any breed name and matching options will appear. This is entirely optional; the app does not automatically match by breed. If no filter is applied, you'll see all dogs nearby.

We know how disappointing that can be — especially when your dog was looking forward to it. If someone repeatedly cancels or doesn't show, you can report them from their profile. Repeat no-shows may be removed from the app. Please reach out to us at support@goodfrens.app and we'll look into it.

Go to your Profile tab and tap the edit icon. You can update your photo, bio, location, and preferences. To edit your dog's info, tap on their profile card and select Edit Dog.

good frens uses your device location to show nearby dogs. If you've moved or want to update your area, go to Settings → Location in the app. You can also adjust your search radius to see dogs in a wider or narrower area.

Make sure location permissions are enabled for good frens in your phone's Settings app.

Go to Profile → Settings → Account to update your email or password. If you signed up with Apple or Google, your login is managed through those services.

Go to Profile → Settings → Notifications to choose which alerts you receive — new playdate requests, messages, confirmations, and reminders. You can also manage notification permissions in your phone's Settings app under good frens.

Go to Profile → Settings → Visibility and toggle your profile to Hidden. While hidden, you won't appear in other users' Discover feeds. Your existing connections and scheduled playdates are not affected.

Go to Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your dog's profile, all playdate history, and your personal data from our systems within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.

If you'd prefer to take a break without losing your data, consider hiding your profile instead.

Tap on the user's profile, then tap the ⋯ (more) button in the top corner and select Report. Choose the reason that best applies and add any details. Every report is reviewed by our team within 24 hours.

Tap on the user's profile, tap ⋯, and select Block. Blocked users cannot see your profile, send you playdate requests, or message you. You can manage your blocked list in Settings → Privacy → Blocked Users.

good frens is designed for adults 18 and older. Because the app facilitates in-person meetups, users must confirm they are 18+ during account creation. If you encounter a user who you believe is a minor, please report them immediately.

Our team reviews every report. Depending on the severity, we may issue a warning, temporarily suspend the account, or remove the user permanently. We take all reports seriously — the safety of our community comes first. We may follow up with you by email if we need more information.

Your safety is always the priority. Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it's okay to leave. Once you're safe, report the user through the app or email us directly at support@goodfrens.app. In an emergency, always call 911.

We recommend meeting in public places for first playdates and letting someone know where you're going.

We collect the information you provide when creating your account (name, email, location, photos) and your dog's profile. We also collect usage data to improve the app. We never sell your personal data. For the full details, see our Privacy Policy.

good frens uses your approximate location to show nearby dogs. We display distance ranges (e.g. "0.5 miles away") rather than exact addresses — your precise location is never shown to other users. You can disable location access at any time in your phone's Settings, though this will limit the Discover feed.

Yes. Email us at privacy@goodfrens.app with the subject line "Data Request" and we'll send you a copy of the data we hold on your account within 30 days.

We do not sell your data. We use a small number of trusted third-party services (such as cloud hosting and analytics) to operate the app — these are covered in our Privacy Policy. We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
